Family Sessions
Family is at the heart of everything, be sure to capture it.
Moments are so fleeting and the world we live in is so fast paced, that precious moments whizz past us in the blink of an eye. I swear time speeds up once you have children and as a parent, I know how important it is to capture your children through the years. Booking a photoshoot allows you to put a pause on those precious moments so you can revisit them for years to come. Remember your kids will never be as little as they are today.
My family photoshoots can be studio-based or outdoors. I have found the most beautiful outdoor locations and have a variety of favourite locations now to suit everyone. I love nothing more than a mini outdoor adventure, where the kids can roam free and have lots of fun exploring and making memories. I’ve even had one shoot that included a toad the kids had found (I didn’t know I had a fear of toads until they excitedly came to show it to me). My shoots are fun and relaxed, and my aim is for you to be at ease, so the moments I capture are true to your family.
Your families’ moments are precious to me because they are everything to you. To be trusted to capture those moments is an honour.

Frequently Asked Questions
If it’s an outdoor shoot, what will we do if it rains?
If the weather is looking rainy or windy (surprisingly wind is more of an issue than rain on a shoot), then I will rearrange to another suitable day. I will usually check the weather the night before the shoot and confirm, although I have had instances where the weather has changed the hour before the shoot, and we have had to rearrange.
I don’t think you can be comfortable and happy on a shoot in yucky weather conditions. The kids might enjoy splashing in puddles for a small time, but for a full hour, it's not ideal.
What should we wear?
I provide advice for each shoot as each has slightly different outfit advice. It’s always completely up to you if you take this advice or not, it is merely advice, this is your shoot after all and you can wear whatever you want. But I often get asked for it so I do provide it on your confirmation email. One piece of advice that applies to all shoots is I always say, if you can, avoid neon clothing, big slogans and very patterned clothes. I always find neutral clothing works perfectly.
How do you choose a location?
I have done recces and hunted for the perfect locations for your family. I have several different locations, some more suitable if it has been wet, some more suitable for a true mini adventure. I tend to confirm the location nearer to the time, as the weather prior to the shoot can play a massive part in which location I opt for. If you have a preferred location from images I have taken, then we will always go with that and if you have a location precious to you, then please let me know.
What if my kids don’t behave?
We have a full hour to put them at their ease. I find with outdoor shoots; the kids often get caught up in the adventure and forget they are being photographed. There are so many lovely distractions outdoors that I can capture them just having fun. I also have a few poses we can do if children are really feeling unhappy so you know we will always get a couple of the more posed ones, even if the kids aren’t feeling it. And if worst comes to worst, bring some bribes, I know, I know, parenting books will not be happy with me for suggesting that. But if it’s the difference between you enjoying your photoshoot and feeling stressed then it might be worth a little food treat.
The reality is kids sometimes won’t behave. But it happens so rarely that I really wouldn’t worry about it and if it does happen, we still get lots of lovely shots.
I often find parents worry their children are behaving far worse than they are. And I often get asked if I find it stressful, and the answer is truly NO. When I’m photographing my children, absolutely, yes, so I get it from your side. But from my side it really isn’t stressful so please don’t worry about how your children behave, if you aren’t feeling stressed, the chances are they won’t be either and we can all go and have lots of fun.
